A little bit of tiling. A little bit of cabinetry.

Due to popular demand, here are some pics of the cabinetry, which landed and was installed at our place today.

Kitchen (sans benchtop and looking quite 'blah', really!)

So, you may have read previously that our builder wouldn't allow the gloss finish to the white cabinets.  We had decided that we'd just replace the drawer and door fronts later on.  However, it doesn't look as bad as I anticipated, so this job will fall out of the 'straight away' category and onto the 'to do later' list.

The tiler also got started today, and was really knowledgeable, and nice!

Ensuite shower floor

Laundry cabinet and floor tiles.  We didn't opt for stone in here, as most of the slab would have been cut out for the tub.
The floor tiles in the main bathroom, which were still being done as we were leaving this afternoon, were looking a little bit anaemic, but looking at the photo above, they look great once they meet up with the woodgrain cabinetry.  (Note: They are a bone colour, but look almost white in this pic)  I am also feeling quite confident given that the laundry cabinet is quite similar in colour to the main floor.

So, it really is starting to look like a real house!

The painter will start prepping on Friday, pending the completion of his current job.  Wow!  I can't wait to see the wall colour!!!!!!

1, 2, skip a few, 99, 100

One hundred posts, already!!  And the house isn't even finished yet!

The eaves are half way up, the tiles have been delivered, and the garage door is in.

Thanks to everyone for their support and advice thus far.  As any of you have built will know, there is still a looooong way to go, so I look forward to your ongoing help and assistance as this project continues.

I'm off to find a strong man to help me unload the feature tiles from my boot...

Chippies at work

I hope everyone had a great weekend!

The cabinetry was delayed last week, so it is now looking like a Monday/Tuesday job.  All the skirtings, archs and doors were done on Thursday and Friday, though.  It's starting to look like a real house.

Here are some pics...

Linen Cupboard shelving (with someone hiding inside!)

Pantry door

Pantry shelving.  To the right is a bare wall, which will house a little charging station and on the next adjacent wall will be space for the calendar and school notes etc.  It will be the organisational hub of the home, but totally hidden away.  Love!

More pantry shelving

Also, the mortar on the fancy bricks is looking better with each passing day.  The fact that the render is curing and lightening is also helping, as it is looking closer in depth to the colour that it will be painted.

So, Monday and Tuesday will bring a garage door and cabinetry.  The tiler will start on Wednesday.

I wonder if the painters are booked in for next week???

Have a fantastic week!

Rockin' the render

Thursday saw the renderers rockin' their work!  I drove past at 8:39am and they were literally nearly finished the job!  Granted, they were only required to do the front facade, but seriously, that's commitment.

No internal shots, as the chippie was still working when we did our afternoon drive-by.  Hopefully we'll be able to take share photos of KITCHEN CABINETRY!!!!!! in the next post!

Welcome to our newest followers, Lizzie and Nellie.  Welcome, ladies!

Stay dry, peeps!

PS: Pillars are looking better already.  Thanks for all your words of encouragement on the last post.

A salesperson is not necessarily a designer...

You know when you shouldn't let someone talk you out of something, but somehow it happens anyway?

For some reason, I didn't go hard enough on my desire for off white mortar on our feature brick pillars.

It will look a lot better once the render is applied to the remainder of the facade, so I think I'll just get over it.  (That, and I might just go and check the contract, just in case...)

The more I look at them, the more I realise that I love them anyway.  I just hope Husband is happy with them, as they were his must have on this build.

I hope you're all having a great week!

Waterproofing in the rain

Things have been moving along nicely on the house.  The brickies have been slowed down by the rain, (I think they're more annoyed them me) but will be finished tomorrow.

The fancy bricks are on site, and the front pillars will be erected tomorrow.  I can't wait to see them!

In other news, the waterproofing was completed in the bathrooms and laundry ready for the tiler to start this time next week.

I'm driving around with the feature tiles in my boot, as they're too heavy to remove from the car!  Another thing that I can't wait to see installed.

So, we're definitely moving forward.  The chippies should be around some time this week and the kitchen cabinetry is due Friday.  Wow!

Until next time...

Plaster Master

Well, what a week it has been!

The brickies have been on site since Monday morning and the plasterers since Tuesday morning.  I am absolutely in love with the house right now!!!

The bricks in view will be rendered, hence their dodginess.  The fancy bricks for the front pillars haven't arrived yet.  They are amazeballs!

We've never had high ceilings before, and, let me tell you, we'll never go back to standard ceilings.

View from top of entry hall to front door.  Quite possibly my favourite part of the house.
Family/Meals/Kitchen.  I've decided to adopt the title 'Great Room'.  Much quicker and easier to say!

View of the Great Room from the Playroom end.
Meals space niche.  It is huge, and awesome.  We are planning on fitting this out with a custom piece of mirror.  I don't even want to think about the dollars involved here...

Niche from another angle.  It actually has quite a deep shelf, too.

Ensuite - it is looking massive, and the bath is soooo deep!  If I had my way, I'd never leave the Master Suite!

Master Bedroom
It rained today, so I suppose that hamstrung the brickies a bit.  Hopefully they'll be able to make a dent in the job tomorrow.

Soooofa!

So, a friend came over today, and I introduced her to the new sofa.  'When did this arrive?' she asked.  'I haven't seen it on the blog!'

I laughed my little heart out!  It had arrived the weekend before, and in all the hoo-hah surrounding looking for a new car and electrical plans etc etc etc, I had forgotten all about it.

Dodgy iPhone pics, sorry.  I'm usually a better photographer than that!

As you can see, this sofa is veeeerry versatile and quite massive.  All five of us can LIE DOWN on it at the same time - love! The options are endless - double love!  I can't wait to get it into the new house and play around with it.

Now I just need to find some cushions to make it look more pretty.  The brown ones that came with it are dinky and dodgy, and must go!!!!

While I'm here, welcome to our newest follower.  We've hit the big 5-0, how very exciting!!  We hope you enjoy hanging out here, Melinda - the best is yet to come!

Photo update

So, as promised here are some roof shots, as well as photographic evidence of yesterday's action!

Woodland Grey Roof, Fascia and Gutter

Loving this front door!

Ensuite bath

Master Bedroom.  Have I mentioned it's kinda small?  That's why we have this door arrangement, which will lead to a private deck.  I can't wait to see this area evolve.

Main bath.  That is one big window!  Blinds will definitely have to be down when the kiddies are in there.

The view from the top of the entry hall down to the front door.  This hall is wide and lovely and I can't wait to decorate it.

So, there we are.  I'm meeting the electrician tomorrow, so of course there is a last minute rush to revise the electrical plan, even though I drew it up back in November!!

Roof!

Happy Monday, all!

Unfortunately, I don't have a photo of the roof for you.  I went past the house super fast on Friday afternoon to have a squiz, but no time for pics.  And then I didn't get back there on the weekend.  Not that the photos would have been any good, given the darkness from all this blasted rain!!!!

Anyhoo, I was very excited to go by this morning and see that all the windows are in (they could only have been delivered this morning!) and that Reece On Site was on site.  This could only mean baths at this stage of the build.

So, rain, hail or shine (most likely rain), I will be over there taking photos this afternoon.

Have a great day, and stay safe in this horrid weather.
