Snippets

Hi everyone!

I thought I'd share a few snippets from around the house.

My current project is to choose curtain fabric for the Master Bedroom.  Sadly, I don't think I like either of these options.  Bugger!

Have I mentioned that I love how the Ensuite feature tile turned out?

And, below, are the niches in our entry.

And, the pink corner in the kitchen.  Marshmallows and biscuits not for eating.... much.

Have a great week!

Are we there yet?

Nope, but we're very, very close!  (PS: The title wasn't a complaint!)

Our walk through is scheduled for Tuesday, 30 April and then handover on 8 May.  Ho.ly.cow!  This build has gone so well and so quickly.  We couldn't be more pleased!

May is going to be one crazy month, but again, no complaints from me.  Here are some photos of nearly completed spaces...

Front door.  The shadow doesn't really do it justice.
Alfresco ceiling fan - LOVE!
Ensuite shower

Ensuite vanity

Laundry

Wardrobe doors.  I just love the glossiness of them!!
So, that's where we're at!  We have one small problem, though - the exterior of the house has been painted the wrong colour!!!  The spec says one colour (the correct colour) and then the painter asked Husband to sign another form stating that he was happy with the colour that had actually been painted (in a very small section).  Of course, he signed the form, as I had sort of fobbed my way through the conversation with him, thinking it was only the undercoat.  Bad wife!  So, we'll follow that up and see what happens...

I hope you've had a great weekend!

Recent Happenings

Here's a little photo update for your Easter weekend..

Ensuite

Main Bathroom

Main Bathroom Vanity
I really have to remember to take the good camera with me, the iPhone just isn't cutting it lately.

We had a few tile layout issues (thanks partly to the useless tile shop consultant), so I had to think about the Main Bathroom on the go.  What I've done is fine, but not as WOW as what I initially had planned.  Oh well, there's always next time!!

I hope everyone's enjoying the Easter weekend festivities.

A little bit of tiling. A little bit of cabinetry.

Due to popular demand, here are some pics of the cabinetry, which landed and was installed at our place today.

Kitchen (sans benchtop and looking quite 'blah', really!)

Back wall of kitchen

Lift up door to appliance cupboard
So, you may have read previously that our builder wouldn't allow the gloss finish to the white cabinets.  We had decided that we'd just replace the drawer and door fronts later on.  However, it doesn't look as bad as I anticipated, so this job will fall out of the 'straight away' category and onto the 'to do later' list.

The tiler also got started today, and was really knowledgeable, and nice!

Ensuite shower floor

Laundry cabinet and floor tiles.  We didn't opt for stone in here, as most of the slab would have been cut out for the tub.
The floor tiles in the main bathroom, which were still being done as we were leaving this afternoon, were looking a little bit anaemic, but looking at the photo above, they look great once they meet up with the woodgrain cabinetry.  (Note: They are a bone colour, but look almost white in this pic)  I am also feeling quite confident given that the laundry cabinet is quite similar in colour to the main floor.

So, it really is starting to look like a real house!

The painter will start prepping on Friday, pending the completion of his current job.  Wow!  I can't wait to see the wall colour!!!!!!

PS: Welcome to our newest follower, Em.

Waterproofing in the rain

Things have been moving along nicely on the house.  The brickies have been slowed down by the rain, (I think they're more annoyed them me) but will be finished tomorrow.

The fancy bricks are on site, and the front pillars will be erected tomorrow.  I can't wait to see them!

In other news, the waterproofing was completed in the bathrooms and laundry ready for the tiler to start this time next week.

Ensuite shower

Main bathroom
I'm driving around with the feature tiles in my boot, as they're too heavy to remove from the car!  Another thing that I can't wait to see installed.

So, we're definitely moving forward.  The chippies should be around some time this week and the kitchen cabinetry is due Friday.  Wow!

Until next time...

Photo update

So, as promised here are some roof shots, as well as photographic evidence of yesterday's action!

Woodland Grey Roof, Fascia and Gutter

Loving this front door!

Ensuite bath

Master Bedroom.  Have I mentioned it's kinda small?  That's why we have this door arrangement, which will lead to a private deck.  I can't wait to see this area evolve.

Main bath.  That is one big window!  Blinds will definitely have to be down when the kiddies are in there.

The view from the top of the entry hall down to the front door.  This hall is wide and lovely and I can't wait to decorate it.

So, there we are.  I'm meeting the electrician tomorrow, so of course there is a last minute rush to revise the electrical plan, even though I drew it up back in November!!

Finishes Appointment - Bathroom Fixtures

I got to celebrate my birthday by attending the Finishes Appointment for the new house.  Yay me!

As anyone who has built before knows, this can either be a source of extreme stress, or nice and easy.  I have to say, this was nice and easy.  I had everything sorted in advance, so it was really just an hour and a half of filling in lots and lots of paperwork!

I've been a bit strapped for time, and haven't had a chance to take photos of the kitchen finishes yet, so I've rustled up some pics of the bathroom fixtures for you in the interim.

Cabinetry details for the Ensuite and Main Bathroom can be found here.

These are all from the Phoenix Argo range.

Sorry, this is a bit boring, but it's all I can get my hands on at the minute.  Kitchen to come!

To the tile shop we go (well, went)

A quick update before I get to the exciting stuff - the setback I spoke of yesterday is no longer a setback.  Woo hoo!  Now, for the slowest bank ever to get themselves together and we're off to council.  Yaay!

Now, to the events of today - tile selection.  Good times.  We had a pretty good idea of what we wanted, but had to compromise a little due to cost.  This is what we ended up with for the Main Bathroom, Toilet and Laundry (I've included the laminate and stone selections as well, to show the full picture):

And this is the Ensuite Scheme:

Shock horror, my awesome photography does not do either scheme justice.  Regardless, we are very happy with our selections and are moving onwards and upwards.  All in all, a great day!

I hope you're enjoying the weekend.

PS: Details of colour schemes here.
