A little bit of tiling. A little bit of cabinetry.

Due to popular demand, here are some pics of the cabinetry, which landed and was installed at our place today.

Kitchen (sans benchtop and looking quite 'blah', really!)

Lift up door to appliance cupboard
So, you may have read previously that our builder wouldn't allow the gloss finish to the white cabinets.  We had decided that we'd just replace the drawer and door fronts later on.  However, it doesn't look as bad as I anticipated, so this job will fall out of the 'straight away' category and onto the 'to do later' list.

The tiler also got started today, and was really knowledgeable, and nice!

Ensuite shower floor

Laundry cabinet and floor tiles.  We didn't opt for stone in here, as most of the slab would have been cut out for the tub.
The floor tiles in the main bathroom, which were still being done as we were leaving this afternoon, were looking a little bit anaemic, but looking at the photo above, they look great once they meet up with the woodgrain cabinetry.  (Note: They are a bone colour, but look almost white in this pic)  I am also feeling quite confident given that the laundry cabinet is quite similar in colour to the main floor.

So, it really is starting to look like a real house!

The painter will start prepping on Friday, pending the completion of his current job.  Wow!  I can't wait to see the wall colour!!!!!!

PS: Welcome to our newest follower, Em.

  1. M, looking fine! I love the idea of an appliance cupboard... why didnt I think of that?

    1. Thank you!!! Oh, the appliance cupboard, we had one in the last house, and I won't be without one again. So nice to be able to leave the toaster, kettle and coffee machine in there, but out of sight! M x

  2. I totally love the colour combinations, tiles and cupboards. The kitchen cupboard laminate is timeless and you ill be happy with your kitchen for a while. Love the boy in the cupboard.

  3. Wow, it really is all coming together!
I love the contrast in your cabinetry, very striking!
Your tiles will look a little different again once the walls go on, looking forward to seeing all the rooms come together.
You are on the home stretch now. Very exciting.
    Have a great day M!

    1. Thanks very much, Jode! I'm really happy with how things are going so far, just desperate to see that colour on the wall!!!!

      Enjoy your weekend, M x

  4. Wow how quick it is all happening now! I have already forgotten haw fast it went some days. You must be stoked. It is looking great.
    Have a nice weekend.
    Anette :-)

    1. I know, Anette, I'm starting to have a little freak out, I have to say!!!!!

      Enjoy your weekend, too.

  5. It is looking great M. Personally, I kind of like a matt or semi-gloss finish on kitchen cabinets. Doesn't look like it will be long until you move in and can have fun placing all your furniture. Are the builders hanging your wallpaper or do you have to do that?

    1. Thanks, Lizzie. It's all happening so quickly, I'm thinking we'll be in around the end of April! Husband will be doing the wallpaper. I've already had a nightmare that he put it on the wrong wall, to which he responded - 'Don't worry, you'll be standing right there with me, watching to make sure I do it right'. Haha, indeed I will!

PS: I am trying to source a professional to create some cushions. I'll keep you posted.

  6. Yayyyyyyyy!!! No more word verification!!!

    Thank you :))))

  7. How exciting!

I've passed on the task of 7 Random Things About Me to you. Have fun!
