Paint!

Happy Tuesday, from rainy Brisbane!

As promised, here are some paint photos for you.  The painters just started on the gloss trims yesterday, so some of these pics have the trims done and others not.  I may have mentioned previously that I much prefer Taubmans' range of taupes and greys to Dulux's offerings (builder's preference), but I think we hit the nail on the head with our selection, so we're very happy.

Study - need to get some serious greenery happening outside that window!
The entry hall

The Playroom - currently 'the room of doors!'  (Oh, and a curly head!)

Master Bedroom
And, just as a little teaser, here are some 'before' shots of the projects we've been working on over the last week.

A $37.88 eBay 'win'
The painters are due to finish tomorrow, fingers crossed.  I'm looking very forward to seeing the front door stained.

The closer this house gets, the slower time seems to move!

28 March 2012

A little bit of tiling. A little bit of cabinetry.

Due to popular demand, here are some pics of the cabinetry, which landed and was installed at our place today.

Kitchen (sans benchtop and looking quite 'blah', really!)

Back wall of kitchen

Lift up door to appliance cupboard
So, you may have read previously that our builder wouldn't allow the gloss finish to the white cabinets.  We had decided that we'd just replace the drawer and door fronts later on.  However, it doesn't look as bad as I anticipated, so this job will fall out of the 'straight away' category and onto the 'to do later' list.

The tiler also got started today, and was really knowledgeable, and nice!

Ensuite shower floor

Laundry cabinet and floor tiles.  We didn't opt for stone in here, as most of the slab would have been cut out for the tub.
The floor tiles in the main bathroom, which were still being done as we were leaving this afternoon, were looking a little bit anaemic, but looking at the photo above, they look great once they meet up with the woodgrain cabinetry.  (Note: They are a bone colour, but look almost white in this pic)  I am also feeling quite confident given that the laundry cabinet is quite similar in colour to the main floor.

So, it really is starting to look like a real house!

The painter will start prepping on Friday, pending the completion of his current job.  Wow!  I can't wait to see the wall colour!!!!!!

PS: Welcome to our newest follower, Em.

28 October 2011

Five little ducks went out one day...

...to choose an interior wall colour.  The ducks were sad, as they were in love with a Taubmans colour, but the builder will only paint in standard Dulux colours.

The ducks made many a trip to the hardware store, and bought lots of sample pots.  (The ducks really, really love Taubmans for taupe/grey tones).  The ducks were nearly about to organise a Dulux Colour Consultation.  But, today the ducks got lucky, they were lucky ducks.  They found the right colour.

Can you guess where this is going?

The colour we chose for our interior walls is White Duck by Dulux.  It ain't no Taubmans Taupe Stone, but it will do the job.

Not quite this grey in real life...

A scheme found here, which is pretty close to the look I'm going for.

Now to find the right white white for the architraves and skirting...

Thank you so much for the feedback on my shipping issue.  I think the general consensus was - Go for it!  I'll think it over...

Have a great weekend!

PS:  Given my crazy 'duck' post, perhaps I shouldn't blog on Friday nights?
