Tween Girl's Room Concept Board

After sharing my fabric purchases with you earlier in the week, I thought I'd share with you my plans for our big girl's room.

She's turning eight shortly, so needs something that is definitely not little girlish, but not like a teenager's room either.  She wants a desk to do her homework, space to practice her violin and a lounging area as well.

This is what I've come up with for her...

She will have a white quilt cover, so that if we tire of the accent colours, we can easily change out the accessories.  This room also has a niche space that we need to decorate.  I think that will be a task for once the walls are up and we can decide what to display in the niche.

Oh, also, please note that the desk and cubes will be white, not beech!  No white picture available on the Ikea website!!!

What do you think?

  3. Very appropriate M. My youngest is 9 and it's a hard age to decorate for because they're not little anymore, nor teenages yet but need the rooms to be still suitable in 5 years time, when they are teens! Love the simplicity of the major pieces and the fun accessories add lots of fun!

    1. Thanks, KL! I have been struggling with this one, but I figure, by the time she's a teen we'll probably be on to our next house anyway!!!!!

  6. This is perfect - I love the pink and aqua. That chair is gorgeous too, I've been hoping someone would want a girl's room so I could use it!

    1. Hehehe, this is the third girls' room I've spec'd it in in three months!! It was the wrong colour for one, but it was so easy to assemble and so comfy, that I just got it recovered!
