The one where she sews

I was tired of looking at so many lovely cushions for sale in Australia and then being mortified by the horrific price tags.  Sew So, what did I do, I decided to make my own!

Now, they are not fabulously hand-crafted masterpieces, and I haven't added buttons to the bottoms to hold them together yet, but they are made with love and the fabrics are perfect.  Even better, my girls ADORE them!

I can't wait to place them in their bedrooms on top of the gorgeous white quilt covers I'm planning to buy.  Now, for your viewing pleasure...

The cushion at the back in this pic is the reverse side of the one above. 
Here's a free tip for you - I didn't have enough fabric to make the pink cushion at the back in the two lower photos, so I used fabric that I had leftover and made a double-side cushion.  That way, if the Tween Girl gets bored with one, she can just flip it!!

Oh, and a disclaimer, the brown, blue, red and pink cushion was purchased, not handmade.  Just in case you weren't sure!!!!

For now, Tween Girl has taken over the sewing machine, so I'm on a break until my next creative urge hits.

    Wow, they all look amazing! It's hard to believe how much they charge for cushions when you can whip something up like this.

      Thanks, Lauren! I'm not sure I'd go so far as to say I 'whipped them up', hahaha, but I'm getting there!

    I'm in the middle of making a cushion after also being horrified at the prices for decent looking cushions here - glad to see I'm not the only one! Your cushions all look really lovely! Adding you to my blog roll :)

    Now you got me inspired! I have been ...pondering or rather procrastinating when I should get my act together to make cushions. But I think you just made me do it. I'm off to Spotlight straight away.

    THey look great M! I went to Spotlight on a sewing whim but ran away when I realised they had 40% off just about everything....those cues were NOT worth fighting!

      Thanks, KL! I have been buying all my fabric online, as Spotlight scares me on a regular day, let alone a sale day!! I'm sending Husband off today to get some el cheapo temporary blinds for the bathrooms, so that I don't have to schlep the children over there. Happy Easter! M xx

    I am loving the pink and white pattern in the second photo, M! Can you share which online store you got them from? I was looking for a green and white pattern just like it! They look so fresh and would be perfect for an oriental themed room!
