If you want to blog and you know it... clap your hands.

Well, I want to blog, but there is nothing to blog about.

We've all been holed up in the house for the last week, sick and miserable.  I haven't been able to talk to anyone about the house, as my ability to communicate in a coherent manner has been compromised!

So, nothing happening...  But, when it does, you'll hear it here first.

Hope you're all having a happier (and more productive!) week than we are!!!

Oh, and thanks for all the new 'likes' on Facebook, and to those of you who have shared us with your friends!  And thanks for your comments, too!  Don't forget to hit 'follow' up there at the top of your screen.

Concept Board - Guest Room

In the new house, we will be lucky enough to have a Guest Room, so the little peeps don't have to be re-homed when we have visitors.

This room will be teeny-tiny, and furnished with a double bed and two bedside tables, with lamps.

To help make the room feel larger, I want to paint horizontal stripes behind the bed.  A lovely friend has recently painted stripes in her nursery, so I envisage me holding a gorgeous little baby and delegating the stripe painting to her.  Nudge, nudge, wink, wink, you know who you are!!

I also intend purchasing an upholstered bedhead, as we already have an ensemble.  Once we move in, we'll decide between these, from Design Inspired:

In a lighter colour, though.

The room will also have a very neutral colour scheme, but with lots of texture.  Quite possibly my favourite look of all!  Here is my concept board.

Hope you're having a great weekend!

Thankful Thursday

Sometimes building and renovating can be stressful.  Anyone who has done either can attest to that.  Right now, I am stressed by the fact that we still don't have a price for our build.

So, I have decided that each Thursday (or at least once a fortnight) I am going to offset the stress by posting about what I am thankful for.  It might be only one or two things, but I think it is important to take a moment to consider what we have to be grateful for.

This week I am thankful for the three little lights in my life.

How good is GoMA?!
And, I am thankful for sleep-ins on public holidays.

Bliss!
What are you thankful for this week?
Whatever it is, enjoy it and make the most of it!

Promote the ones you love

Are you a member of the Decorating Forum?

This forum is fantasmagorical!  I love it.  It's like having your own group of Interior Designers and Decorators on tap, 24/7.

And the bonus - everyone is so friendly, unlike some forums where there is always a smart alec or a hater or a know it all.

So, if you're looking for all this, and more, in an online forum, come and chat with us.  You know you want to!

Oh, and the lovely lady behind the forum, and her equally lovely friend and business partner, have now opened an online store.  Lots of precious pretties to lust after over there!
The Store
While I'm at it, I'll also let you know that Two beaches and a lake is now on Facebook!  I am having no end of trouble with adding the 'like' button to the blog, 'cos I'm a bit unco like that.  Moral of the story, if you're on Facebook, please come along and like us!

Oh, and make sure that you actually 'follow' the blog as well.  Very important.  There might be giveaways and stuff, free stuff people!  Get on it - you'll be glad you did!

The only problem with a customised bus scroll...

...is that you need to create a new one when you move!

Well, if you create one based on all the houses you've lived in since being together or sites historically relevant to your relationship, anyway.

This time last year, with the assistance of these guys, I created a beautiful, sentimental bus scroll for our Lounge Room.  You might have noticed it in a photo in my last post.

Well, now, I suppose we're going to have to get another one made, aren't we??!

If you were thinking of having a bus scroll made for your house, here are some inspiration pics for you.  They're even great for the little peeps!

Okay, so this is an eye chart, not a bus scroll - whatever!

Lovely destinations to dream about during winter!

Morning routine for the kidlets.

Rules to live by!

Oops, I think I might have just spent some money that I don't have.  Don't tell anyone!

House costing is due tomorrow...

PS: Framing was done here, we've been using them since we had our wedding photos framed about nine years ago.  Funny how our frame choices have changed over time!

This is why we live where we live

Last weekend we were hanging out in shorts and short sleeved tops.
On a Saturday, in the middle of Winter - shorts and t-shirts!  Nice!

(While Daddy was whipper snippering the block).

It doesn't get much better,
especially when all you have to do is walk to the end of your street and across the road to get to this...

Swans on the lake!
How awesome are those Swans?  I thought they were logs at first, as they had their heads in the water.  When I realised what they were, I made the kids get off the playground and run up the park, so I could photograph them!  Sorry, babies.  Next time I'll have to take my camera, so I can really capture the details.

Why do you love living where you live?

What's going on?

Not much, let me tell  ya!

We're still waiting on a price from the builder.  I'm beginning to think they actually don't want our business.  Hmmmm...

Anyhoo, this blog is not about builders who make me cranky, it is about the excitement, anticipation (there's lots of that right now!) and planning that goes into our new house build.  But, when nothing's happening, there's a lot of waiting.

So, while we're waiting, we're living in the affectionately named 'Rent House'.  It sounds a bit suspect, but it is the name instilled by our four year old, so it has stuck.

The Rent House is a slight downsize from the old house, so we have gotten a bit creative with the decorating.

Three spaces at the old house...

Our old formal Lounge Room
Our old Family/Meals space
Our Entry
...have become one in the Rent House!

I've crammed quite a few pretties into the one space, just so that I can see them.  I feel sad that so many gorgeous decorating items are hidden in the wardrobe in the Study.  Oh well, it will be like finding buried treasure when we move!

A close up of this cushion, just because I like it.  Husband and the little peeps gave it to me for Mother's Day.
I hope you enjoyed the little tour of the Rent House.  In an exciting twist, Karen Moregold just told me, and all you other Scorpions, this:

'A stroke of good fortune will give you a financial boost or spark a surge of progress'

Well, Karen, I'm bang up for either of those.  Bring it on!!!

If you are reading, please comment (even though there isn't much to comment on at the minute) and 'follow' us.  It would make us so happy!

The weekend that was

Yayayayay, we got our draft floorplan back on Saturday afternoon.  They drafter did a great job!  The only changes necessary were to some window and door placement (which were necessary due to me already having a furniture placement concept in my head); a couple of kitchen layout issues; swapping the Study and Walk in Robe/Storeroom; oh, and upsizing our miniature Master Bedroom.

So, here it is.  It's a bit smaller than what we wanted, basically because of the dodgy shape of the block and some nasty sewer man holes in our front yard.  Seriously, man holes in the front yard - how rude!  Overall, though, we love it, and can't wait to get some movement happening on this project.

I will cover off our plans for each of the rooms over the coming weeks.  Now, we just have to cross our fingers that the costing comes back where we need/want it to.

In other exciting weekend happenings, we went to the HIA Home, Renovate & Build Expo.  As a home show, it was sadly lacking, but there was a nice surprise for those of us who are fans of 'The Block' and other home-related TV shows.  We met and had a nice chat with Scott Cam.  The kids weren't there, but were wishing they had been after seeing the photo!

The photo has now been removed, as it was indeed a very unattractive one, and Husband didn't like it!
Fair call, too!

I hope you had a great weekend, and enjoy this first week of August.  Those chilling Ekka winds are just around the corner for us, so we will be taking full advantage of a few warm days this week!
