Shopping anyone?

Hi everybody!

I just wanted to share this pre-order opportunity that my store is offering today, as I thought these ottomans might suit some of you.

Have a great day!

Family Room Inspiration

My Mum and I spent a bit of time looking at our Family Room last weekend, trying to decide what to do!

The key points were...

1.  We need a rug.  We knew this, just hadn't gotten around to it.  Guess what?  Mumma is going to shout us one.  Yay!
2.  We need to tie in the wicker from the Dining Space (pendant light and chairs) to the Family Room.
3.  We need to choose a lamp shade.
4.  We need something on the wall (my plan all along), or additional colour via cushions.

Later in the week, I found this image on Freedom's Facebook page.  It brought EVERYTHING home for me in one fell swoop!

Now, as much as I love the round rug, and have been coveting it for some time, it isn't right for our sofa, so I'm looking at the one below instead.

I'm also planning on purchasing the basket and an, gasp, indoor plant.  I've never hearted indoor plants, but this just looks and feels right!

I picked up a floor lamp in Bunnings, for the bargain price of $50, but the lamp shade was the wrong colour. I was planning to recover, but now that I've found the fabric below, I'm not so sure.  I'm even starting to think that the lamp won't actually stay.

Now, as for the artwork above...  It's kinda expensive...  so, I've sourced this fabric and am planning to stretch it over a couple of canvases.  Where there's a will, there's a way, so they say!

So, stay tuned for a big reveal soon!!

Family Room - Work in progress

Hi all!

Well, it's been slow going 'round these here parts.  Not for any real reason, just enjoying living in the house and busy with regular life commitments.

I am yet to purchase anything new for our Family Room, but have done a little shopping around the house to put the area (slightly!) together.

So, I give you the Family Room...

I am considering purchasing these prints from Etsy, and framing them in Ikea Ribba frames (as per pic below) to hang on the wall above the sofa.

The lamp is also on loan from the Lounge Room - it isn't even plugged in!! - until I decide on the artwork.  I'm then considering a lamp like this.

Another purchase still to make is a rug for this area.  I like these Egeby rugs from Ikea, but would have to decide on colour, obviously!

And, maybe a coffee table, but convincing Husband of this will be mission in itself!

So, we're getting there, slowly but surely!

I hope you're having a great week.

New sofa love - The One

So, it turns out that my sofa disappointment was short lived.  I managed a solo visit to Freedom today (unheard of!) and came across the Sitta modular sofa.

Here

It looks a lot deeper in real life, which is what we're after.  The dimensions are perfect.  The armless section can be positioned on either side of the main sofa, making it very versatile.  The price is doable, too.  (The best news of all).  The fabric we choose will more than likely be different to the example above, but I'm pretty confident that this new find is 'The One'.

I've also started working on a sofa table design, that Husband has agreed to build.  Sooooo excited.  I'll share the design with you once it's drawn up properly.

Hope you've all had a great weekend!!

Accent Colour - Main Living Space

I like a pretty neutral base colour scheme.  So, in the new house, this will be a dark timber floor, taupe/grey walls, a mostly white kitchen and a wallpapered feature wall with a navy pattern.

I was tossing up either red or yellow the last hit of colour in the space, and had pretty much decided on red.  I must say, red as an interior colour often throws a little 'bogan', but with the navy and very select use, I was looking forward to it...

Until...  I watched the latest episode of 'Sarah 101' (have I mentioned my love for Sarah Richardson's work here yet?) and fell in love with this space.

This image doesn't show the true beauty of the room, but more images are available here.

Pros for yellow as our accent colour:
- It is Husband's favourite colour
- It gets along very well with grey
- There are lots of yellow homewares available at the minute

Con
- Telling people our colour scheme includes blue and yellow!  That is so late nineties/early 2000s.  Our first house was blue and yellow, with a beachy theme.

Well, it looks like the pros outweigh the cons, and everything old is new again!!

What accent colour are you using in your home?

When the budget doesn't meet the brief

Oh, woe is me, the sofa that I have fallen in love with really is not in our budget.  Like, we could afford to pay it off, but I don't know that I want to commit to the price.  Do others of you have the same issue?  It is lovely, though, and practically perfect in every way.  For your viewing pleasure, here is the offending piece...

It is so well proportioned, and even the fabric is the perfect colour, oh and behold the timber detailing.  And the coffee table in contrasting fabric.  Gorgeous!

We would really like a modular sofa for our Family Room, as opposed to two couches in an L-shape configuration, so that we can all fit on the same lounge.  So many of them seem to have really shallow seats, or aren't available in the right configuration or dimensions.  I just keep coming back to the 'Cruz' by Domayne.  (Note: It is still considerably cheaper than the Jasper by King Furniture!)

What to do?  What to do????????  Other suggestions are welcome!

Hope you're having a fantastic weekend!
